Teen accused in mother's death

A sixteen year old accused of stabbing his mother to death made his first appearance in Terrace Provincial Court this afternoon. He sobbed quietly as he stared at his father who was seated in the front row flanked by family and friends.

Police were called to a home on the 4600 block of Houghland Avenue on September 27 just after 11 pm. They found a women suffering from multiple stab wounds. The 46 year old was taken to Mills Memorial Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Neighbours say there were a number of people at the home that evening attending a birthday party. However police are not releasing any details about the events leading up to the stabbing.

The teenager may be tried as an adult; he will be in court again on Oct. 2.
